With the current United States administration making its stance on immigration clear, there is more need than ever to come together to examine our policies and attitudes in regard to immigration. Where can we improve? How open or closed should our borders be? Why do we have these barriers? What is the most ethical and forward-thinking solution?

In the cesspool of negativity that is swirling through the air, we need to remind ourselves how very real this is for millions of individuals and families. The most collaborative, meshing-pot country in the world has, through its misguided leadership, sent out a message of hate and exclusivity. These powers have ignored how our country was founded and developed through embracing differences and outside influence. It has stepped backward into a dangerous ego, power-hungry fear zone that has historically led to war, internment of civilians, and hate-fueled crime. By coming together, we can strive to overcome all of these factors with the power of positive unity.
