Allowance Allowing
For some of us, allowing takes practice and work. We are so used to helping others, or get caught up spinning in our many busy tasks, that we forget or have trouble allowing pleasure or happiness. For an additional amount of us, there is another added factor – a feeling of unworthiness.
Allowing entails believing we actually deserve the good that is coming. When it comes to happiness and pleasure, we can find this to be one of the hardest things in life. In addition, we are programmed to believe that allowing is egotistical, and the opposite of giving. I am an advocate for being generous and benevolent, but that does not mean a person cannot both give and receive. And yet receiving and allowing, for many of us, can be excruciating.
Here are a few strategies I have found that can assist in allowing allowance:
Post affirmations EVERYWHERE – I believe, I receive, I deserve, I am worthy, I deserve
Develop an Abundance Mindset
Write yourself a letter apologizing for not allowing and promising more in the future
Write a list of fantasy things – keep it close and/or rewrite often
Write down old scripts, stuck negative patterns & ringers in the mind; forgive
